Birth of Mrs Weaver

Mrs Weaver insisted on being born halfway through 2025. My latest character wants to change the world. But she doesn’t know how. So she enlists the animals that live nearby: Hare, Bird, Bee, Playtypus and Dog. Mrs Weaver will develop over the next few years through various residencies and workshops, accompanied by long-time collaborators: Leah Mercer, Liz Burcham, Julie Robson, Sandi Woo, Suzanne Little, Travis Ash, and introducing Charlie Ball and Helen Stephens as our extraordinary puppeteers.

First of all, thank you very much for those of you who have subscribed to my website. This year is flying fast, and no sooner do I finish one thing than another is there to replace it. I am sure I am not alone. With all the shenanigans going on in the world of politics, it is essential to have a direction and a reason for waking up in the morning.

Regarding the morning, I would like to remind everyone that one of my objectives is to encourage our arts community to embrace not just the physical and emotional aspects, but also the spiritual, with regard to creative practice. An excellent question to ask your character (those of you who write/perform): What does my character believe in? What is their purpose?

Every weekday morning (with an occasional exception), we meet for Zoom meditation. A free service for our community. 6.30 am Australian Eastern Standard Time. We meditate for 25 minutes, and then engage in 25 minutes of writing. Tuesday to Friday. Some stay for the writing, others get on with their day. Together, we land on a writing prompt, something that could be part of your current project, or you can write about whatever interests you.

On Saturday mornings, we meet on Zoom at 7am AEST. This gathering is also free. We write for 25 minutes, and then share with the group what we have written (you are not obliged to, but it is fascinating when you read aloud your writing without the opportunity to edit…to have a witness is a robust process).

If you're interested in joining us (and how welcome you will be), please join Sangha for Artists of Life, a private Facebook group. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/835515145022233

If you don’t use Facebook, you won't be able to access the Sangha for Artists of Life page. If you do not wish to create a Facebook account (I totally get it), then contact me directly at +61 410515637 with a text (I am horrid at answering my phone…it doesn’t ring) and I can send you a link. The only issue is that you may not be aware of changes (I post updates on the Facebook page). We also have a WhatsApp group, which is another way to stay informed about what’s going on.

Sending best wishes to everyone who reads this.

May all be well, and may you live with ease.

Margi
